Teacher Magazine has just released an infographic that compares the net statutory teaching time in hours, per year, in public institutions across the world.
Statutory teaching time refers to the hours that a full-time teacher is expected to work each year as set by policy, rather than the actual teaching time which reflects workloads.
The highest reported statutory teaching time is in New Zealand (1,230 hours/year), followed by Poland (1,095 hours/year), and USA (1,011).
The infographic is a part of “The Role of a Teacher Around the World” series, and is based on the OECD report Education at a Glance 2022.
